We tend to build our tents and pitch the altar. We as Christians tend to spend less time building altars in our lives than we should. Most of us are too busy building our tents. Our tents should be pitched. Nothing should be considered permanent. We should always have a perspective that at any time God could change the direction of our lives and require us to let go of some things. I do not want to be so rooted in something that the Holy Spirit can not replant me. Don’t get me wrong, we all want nice homes and things and God doesn’t mind us having those.. they just shouldn’t have us. We focus too much time building ourselves our own little kingdoms and we lose sight of the Kingdom of God. We just kinda pitch the altar to the side. We need to be building altars in our lives. Counseling sessions, crying, complaining, silent treatments.. none of these things can help us like building an altar before the Lord. We are usually scared to do that because sometimes we know it will require a sacrifice. Most of the time in requires us humbling ourselves before God and even repenting. So, I encourage you… pitch your tent and build an altar!!
There is a scripture that states God works all things to good for those who believe… It is not always easy to rely on that in the middle of trying times. However, I do believe it and take God at His word. There are so many different things going on in everyone’s lives that it is crazy! It is a great honor to be able to watch God move in people’s lives. There are so many things that God is working out right now and so many people starting to see breakthrough in their lives! I myself have been in a season of change. Just God working some things out in me and I am now able to see a small direction of why and how… Faith comes in to play in those times you can’t always see God moving. You just have to trust that He is.
There seems to be a theme going around at Oasis. Eric starts a message series Sunday called “Unstoppable” . We have just hired a new youth pastor who is so inspired by the passage of scripture that talks about dry bones! Instead of dry bones, he sees an army! So.. God is putting together an Unstoppable Army!!! Hmm… He is working things out that are huge.. putting all the pieces together! I just want to encourage you that if it feels like nothing is being worked out in your life.. turn it over to God. Trust that He loves you and is working all things out for your good. Sometimes, how we act where we are.. determines how long we stay there. Don’t be a hinderance to your own breakthough. Spend time with God, develop a relationship with Him so He can mold you and change you.. and you too can be Unstoppable!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! What a week! The Lord is definately still stretching me.. but the painful part is over!! Last week, and what a week it was, I got home from church and realized that I had lost my phone! My husband found it outside in a puddle of water, completely submerged. An iphone mind you, no warranty, no protection plan!! AHHHH.. to say the least. It came on but had no sound. So… I blow dried it and then stuck it in a box of rice overnight. Would you believe that the rice actually drew the moisture out of the speakers and the next morning it worked!! Hmm.. Praise the Lord!!
I realized that the God was using rice to teach me something.. that is right.. rice. Just like the rice absorbed the water from my phone, I was absorbing the problems of everyone around me. Taking on responsabilities that God did not intend for me to take. I was absorbing so much, I was about ready to pop!! There is a huge differnce in dealing with issues and actually allowing those issues to influence me in any way. God is teaching me to handle things without absorbing them. So.. since then my week has improved drastically.. letting go and letting God! Seems so simple, yet in order to do it.. I have to continually allow God to renew my spirit. So.. I would like to encourage you to spend some time with God.. allow Him to renew your spirit… You never know what he will use to do it! Maybe even a box of rice!!
I have not blogged much.. but I thought it might be fun!! So.. my blogs will be full of random, real life stuff!!! Like today for example.. I know that God is doing something great in me…. but it doesn’t feel great at the moment. I feel very stretched. I am at the place where I am don’t know what He is doing, but I know He is preparing me for something. Stretching is tough. Changing is tough. Have you ever felt like He was changing something in you and you were actually fighting against it…. thinking the whole time “this is gonna be hard”???? I guess it is like Jody Pittman’s jujitsu class. I have been watching some of those taking this class. It is hard work! They are sore, some of them look pretty beat up!! Ha! But, they are really getting into shape and developing muscles!! So… Lord… develop my spiritual muscles! I know He is helping me grow closer to Him!!
