The Key to Being Offense Proof

Offense.. yikes!! Creeps up on me all of the time. Everyone has an opinion and most of the time the loudest opinions are not the nicest! There are many many opportunities to be offended! So, how do you offense proof yourself??

Psalm 139:23-24 in the MSG version says

“Investigate my life, O God,
find out everything about me;
Cross-examine and test me,
get a clear picture of what I’m about;
See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—
then guide me on the road to eternal life”

The fear of being lied about or misunderstood often makes us defensive and offended. The best way to overcome that is by letting God examine your heart. To be open to him investigating your life.

You need to know who you are in Christ so that when things rub you the wrong way, you can still respond the right way.

AND>>> Things are going to rub you the wrong way.. Kind of like how iron sharpens iron. It can’t happen unless it is being rubbed the wrong way.

Don’t react to it, respond to it. Just like Jesus did!! He didn’t react to the accusations against Him, He just simply told everyone who He was and whose He was.

You will be tested and rubbed the wrong way, through friends and enemies. Choose to respond. Know who you are in Christ and remember there is always gonna be some “they” with a lot to “say”.  Be secure in who you are.

  1. I needed this gentle reminder. Thank you. ☺
    I suppose that being grounded in my faith will ultimately cause me to simply become “unconcerned ” with the nonsense of lipservice that we all deal with, daily. The offense rears its ugly head and before we know it, relationships are destroyed.

    Good read, Pastorette! 😊
