That is my little man, Ethan, right there in the green shirt. This was at the “See You At the Pole” this morning at his school. He is in the 2nd grade! I, of course was going to go. Our church is hosting a big rally tonight and lots of people from our church were going to all the schools around us today. My husband and I didn’t have to tell Ethan he was going to go. He wanted to go, and even made sure we were both going to be there. It meant we had to leave the house 15 minutes early! At our house, 15 minutes in the morning is a pretty big deal. But, he worked hard and did what he had to, to be sure we got there on time. We didn’t have to explain that it was a big deal, he knew it was.
Proverbs 22:6 says “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” A lot of training that has been done is just living as examples. Whether good or bad, we all are giving our children examples to live by. Ethan knows the things that his dad and I are passionate about and he too has taken those passions on for himself. I am sure it is not easy being a pastor’s kid. But he seems to love the ministry as much as we do. We have our moments where I wonder if I have done a good job training him or not… 🙂 We have those times that I have not been a good example or he is just not getting it. Then we have those times like today where my little guy wanted to participate in something because he believed in it, not just because mom told him to. Yep.. one of those Ah Ha moments.. he is developing his own character!
