This picture is from my window at work. I love having a window right next to my computer. It got me to thinking this morning… we take really good care of the grass on our side of the fence. So… it looks a lot prettier than other people’s grass around us. You know the old saying “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” ? Well, here at work, it is greener on our side, because we take better care of it. Seems to be that way in life also. Some people are never satisfied with what they have. They think if they only had “that” job it would be great. Maybe you should do a better job and be more thankful at yours. Or, if I only had “that” house. Any house can be made into a beautiful “home”. May take a little taking care of, but it can happen. Of course the main one is our relationships. I hear it all the time “if only my husband were like yours”. Or “man, if I had a wife like that”. You ever stop to think that great people and marriages don’t just happen overnight!! I guarantee you people have taken a lot of time caring for their wife or husband, giving them attention, affirmation, love.. tending to “their side of the fence”. If people would focus more on their sides of the fences, they would quit comparing their side to the other side. Want a more satisfied life.. take care of what God has put on your side of the fence. It might take a little sweat and work, in the end you will be glad you took the extra time to water, fertilize and maintain your grass. ” Psalm 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Even our great Shepherd takes us to green pastures. He only has the best for us. He leads us beside quiet waters and restores our souls… He guides us in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. We should learn from his example and take care of what God has placed in our care. Nurture those relationships.
